Kemah

After our trip to the YMCA was cut short due to a thunderstorm, we arranged to meet up with Kristina and her kids at the Kemah Boardwalk.

Brinley has grown up so much since the last time we saw her! She is fearless and wanted to go on all the rides. Kristina and I chatted while the little dare-devil got her fill.

I'd been told before we got there that the carousel is free for kids under two...and for the adult that is required to ride with them. Caitlin does love the carousel, so we rode that a couple of times!

We also rode the train. Kemah has changed so much since I lived in Houston! It was fun to take the little train around to see all that is there.

By the time that was done we had some hungry kiddos (and a hungry Irishman...), so we stopped for lunch at Landry's. Kristina pointed out the water line on the wall from Hurricane Ike. We'd had lunch there just a couple of weeks before the storm, so it was crazy to imagine.

My favorite part of the day was watching Clayton and Caitlin make faces at each other across the table. He actually taught her to hold the napkin over her face to play peek-a-boo. So cute!

It looks like Kristina and her gang are heading to the Sunshine State in December. The Irishman and I are thinking that may be just the excuse we need to make a trip to Orlando. There is nothing quite like Disney at Christmas...and meeting up with old friends!

I miss Kemah too! Do they still have that fancy seafood restaurant with the two story aquarium inside? I always found it odd to eat seafood while watching pretty fish swim around!
