These Shoes Were Made for Moo-ving

Nana sent Caitlin these adorable slippers.
I wonder where she got the idea...

The other morning we tried them on with her PJs. She tried to pull them off at first, but settled into them after a bit.

Then she decided to take them for a test run walk stand.

No steps yet, but that kid is MOO-ving all over the place!

Thank you Nana!

With a Bow on Top

When we go out, people are always commenting on the bow in Caitlin's hair. I usually joke that she hasn't discovered it is there yet. This momma has gotten very good at sneaky bow placement. I brush her hair a little first with my hands and she immediately checks for the bow. Once her hands are clear of her head, I clip the bow in and distract her with a toys or a hand game or something like that. The method works for the most part.

Monday afternoon I had an extra bow with me. I clipped it on my shirt, but she grabbed it from me.

Then she tried to put it on her head.

Because, well, that is where the bows go!

(This one is a video. If you get this via e-mail, come visit the blog to see it!)

She repeated the process over and over again.

Such a cutie!

Blue Bonnet

Someday I hope to take Caitlin's picture in a field of bluebonnets. Until then, I'll have to settle with taking her picture in a blue bonnet!

Sand Table Princess

What is a ten-month-old little girl to do at a birthday party full of two-year-old little boys?

Why, take advantage of the abandoned sand table of course!

Given her love for the beach, it should be no surprise that she had a wonderful time digging in the sand.

(Thank you to Laura for the perfect party outfit! It is hard to find something fun and girlie that she can still crawl around in. This was perfect!)

If I didn't know better I'd say these puppy dog eyes are asking Daddy for a sand table of her own.

It's a good thing someone has a birthday coming up!

Sunday Sickies

Our Sunday has included a morning trip to the pediatrician's office. Caitlin has a little cough. The doctor said she seemed play, but her throat was a little red so she took a culture and will call us tomorrow if it shows anything. Other than that it has been a lazy day around the house. Here's to a healthy week ahead!

10 Months, Part 1

I haven't had a chance to put together the 10 month collages yet, but I got an e-mail yesterday titled "Your Baby at 10 months: Week 3" and decided maybe I'd better finally post these photos at least!

We actually got a couple of pictures of Caitlin sitting this month. She prefers to be on her two feet. She "walks" along the furniture like a pro. Standing up without holding onto anything is no problem now, but she is not yet ready to take a step. We've though it was coming several times, but she drops to her knees and crawls with lightening speed instead. That kid is fast!

With eight teeth, Caitlin smiles to show off all her pearly whites. Table food is much preferred over baby food, though she will enjoy a jar with her munchies. Cheese has surpassed carrots as her favorite food. (I guess this shouldn't be a surprise, huh?)

The biggest change this month has been watching her figure things out. She opened a compartment on her play table and put a toy inside of it. She pulls her favorite book off the shelf and opens it to her favorite page. I am amazed at how much she can do and love to watch her try out new things.

Caitlin is a very happy baby, and that makes me one happy momma!
(The Irishman's thrilled, too. He's not the one writing this though!)

Party Girl

A couple of weeks ago Caitlin got her first glimpse of the party girl lifestyle. We managed to fit in two birthday parties in one day. I've already shared her "Say Cheese" moment from the second party, but I just noticed I hadn't blogged about Rylee's Birthday Bash (also known as party #1).

I do not have many pictures from the party...or rather I have an odd assortment of pictures from the party. I've enjoyed reading Shannon's recaps though....the decorations....the guests....the food. (Caitlin had just woken up from a 45 minute nap and looks a little grumpy in her photo!) They had every detail well thought out and even sent us home with a CD to play at home with "Rylee's 2nd Birthday Party Mix."

When I saw the cute Minnie Mouse invite I knew Caitlin would have a great time. It was a pool party and that kid loves the water. We spent a fair bit of time in the big pool with the others. Even in the baby pool we spent a fair bit of time with James and his mommy. Based on my pictures you wouldn't think so, but you will have to take my word for it. ; )

Rylee may only be two, but she had her first party crasher. This parrot showed up a little early for the party and hung out on the porch until it was over. Shannon decided to call him Fiesta to match the Minnie Mouse theme.

Little Miss enjoyed her first taste of chicken nuggets and hot dog. She ate everything I gave her...and then some! All the other kids had finished eating and were ready to move onto presents but Miss Caitlin was still looking for more. That kid can eat!

Before we left I attempted to get a picture of Caitlin with Rylee.  The key word here is "attempted."

I did manage to snap a quick shot of the birthday girl though! We had a wonderful time and are so happy to have had a chance to share in Rylee's special day!

I'm sure we'll be meeting up soon!

(Especially because we left a pair of shoes and Caitlin's ducky-robe at the party...Oops!)

Sunday Sports

Yesterday was a big day for sports in our house. The Irishman woke up early (an hour pre-Caitlin early) and went off to early Mass so that he could meet some friends at a pub showing the Liverpool game to the breakfast crowd. Once home, he put the All-Ireland Final on the computer.

Soon after the game we got a call from our friends inviting us over to see the Texans and Redskins game. After Caitlin's afternoon nap we headed that way. She doesn't have any Texans gear, so we decided for her fourth outfit change of the day she could support the All-Ireland Champion Cork Rebels.

We joked that we always take pictures of Caitlin and the Irishman in their matching sporting gear in this same spot. Regardless, I think this is one of my new favorite pictures!

I don't admit it often, but I think they really look alike in this next one!

Even though she was a Mommy's girl all day, she was much happier to take pictures with Daddy last night! Figures!

It was a lovely evening. They served all sorts of goodies including the best homemade pretzels I've ever had. (A recipe going to the top of my must-try list!) Caitlin enjoyed playing with Johnny's toys and even found a puppet or two to play with.

The two of them eyed each other with suspicion most of the time. He is almost exactly a year older than her, so neither of them was much for being social! Johnny would not wear his Redskin's jersey and did not feel like posing for a picture, so it is all Caitlin photos today. He isn't used to having the paparazzi in his house, so we won't hold it against him!

The game went into overtime and even baskets of toys was not enough to distract the little ones. We had to slip away during extra time, but we had a lot of fun!

Company Came...

...and left!

A while ago, but who's keeping track?

These pictures are from Labor Day. My brother and his wife were in town for the long weekend. Caitlin loved the visitors. (And an excuse to eat out!)

She seems to stare at Uncle Jason a bit.

She even tried to copy his laid back style.

She wasn't too interested in his hat.

Forget the hat. How about that bald head?

We had a great time visiting with Jason and Megan!

They will be back again in October. We are looking forward to seeing them and Emma!

I'd planned to post her 10 month pictures today. Hopefully I will get it done before she is 11 months old...those posts take a bit of time to prep though!

Caitlin's Cat Toy

Rafa and Moses typically watch Caitlin from a safe distance. She still giggles anytime they walk into a room.

Caitlin may not be able to get  close to our real kitty friends yet, but she loves this book!

(Pictures and blog post from my phone. First attempt with this phone, so we'll see!)

This morning she pulled the book off the shelf and was having a grand time making the toy in the book squeak.  She's a bright one!
