A Birthday Gathering

Our friend (and former boss) Sue had a birthday party for her granddaughter a few weeks ago. The invitation stated that we were encouraged to wear green…though unlike St. Patrick’s Day or her funeral it was not required. Only Sue!

As luck would have it, the kids had just gotten these matching green outfits from Dad and Sandra. I tried to get a picture of the two of them together. I asked her to kiss Sean, but I wasn’t quick enough to get the picture. Somehow “sit next to Sean” turned into “sit on Sean.”  Oops!

They were cute in their matching green gear – and they got Sue’s stamp of approval. This is big. Not only must your clothing be green, but it must be kelly green. I’ve gotten in trouble on more than one occasion for wearing the wrong shade of green!

We all joked about how we’ve previously had September parties at Sue’s house for the mommies, but now it is all about the kiddos. We don’t mind though – it is always fun to join the gang at Sue’s house! Here are the mommies and kids with Sue. (The daddies were outside at the grill)

The hostess was wearing a shirt that said, “This is what a really cool Irish Grandma looks like” so she wanted to take a picture with all of her “grandkids.” Most of these kids (ours included) belong to couples who met working at summer camp when Sue was the director. There is a whole new generation of future campers thanks to camp romances that lasted past the summer!

Getting that many kids under 4 in one place at one time is a bit like herding cats, but we didn’t do too bad. Caitlin wasn’t having any of it, but at least she stood in a spot that still worked!

As we all got the kids ready for the pool, Sue held the two babies.

It looks like Sean may already be a bit of a ladies’ man!

We had a wonderful time!

Just catching up on your posts. Camp romances... ahhh.

Love the photos of all Caitlin's stuffed animal friends and Sean! :)
