A Family Affair

The Irishman was picking on me this weekend because I’d made plans for us to go to a local craft fair/festival on Saturday morning. I was giving him a hard time for not being dressed yet and getting us behind schedule. My plan had been to get there early, eat lunch there, stop at the playground, and be home for nap time.

Then it started pouring.  Let’s just say I was less than thrilled that my plans weren’t working out the way I’d hoped they would!

Thankfully the rain ended after about an hour and we decided to brave the lingering clouds and head that way…two hours behind “schedule.” We stopped at the booth of a family I know from school and bought Caitlin a hat. By this point the sun was out and it was HOT. We strolled down the avenue and then stopped at an English pub for some grub.

Caitlin was thrilled to cool off and to pick off of our plates…grilled cheese from me and steak & kidney pie from her father. She was waving to everyone there...such a character!

After lunch we walked over to a nearby park. It is amazing to me that playing on the playground Caitlin can seem so grown up and yet so small at the same time.

By the time we left the park we were well into our regularly scheduled nap time. On our way back towards the car Caitlin fell asleep in her stroller and gave up time to have a look at the booths along the way. (Kettle corn, yum!) We even had time to pop into the public library and stroll the stacks in the air conditioning before the little one and her father woke up.

(She looks sunburned in this photo, but she really wasn't. It was hot, but we were all sun smart...I blame the pink glow on the cell phone camera!)

It was a lovely day…even if it didn’t go the way I planned!

She's getting so big! I love the shots of her playing on the playground. Happy Easter to you all, btw. :)

Oh she is a total doll! I hate it when things don't go as I planned, but love it when they turn out great anyway. :)
