Who Needs Blocks…

IMG_0006

…when you can play with yogurt cups?

The Irishman and I were putting away groceries on Sunday morning when Caitlin took out each of the yogurt containers we’d just put on the shelf and started stacking them upside down. This is now her favorite “cool” hangout and she tries to play this little game anytime the fridge is opened. Silly girl!

27 Weeks

I figured it was time to post an updated belly shot for our parents. Here I am at 27 weeks…

IMG_3851

I wanted a picture with Caitlin, but she wasn’t impressed.

IMG_3852

She is too young to really get the whole “baby on the way” thing, but she has started using my stomach as an arm rest when we are all hanging out on the couch.

IMG_3856

I guess she is already showing her brother who’s the boss!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Caitlin and the Irishman got me a new camera for Mother’s Day this year. Our old “point and shoot” died soon after I got my “good” camera last fall. I love the camera I have, but I wanted something I could throw in the diaper bag. Morgan did his research and I am thrilled with the one he picked out.

I wanted something that could take videos (the big camera doesn’t do that) and this one actually takes HD video. Pretty snazzy!  My plan for Mother’s Day this morning was to get a video of Caitlin saying, “Hi!” then blowing kisses, and saying, “Bye!” She does all three of these things ALL the time.

We did a trial run this morning in her PJs.

My goal had been to recreate these actions while wearing her church clothes.  I’ll spare you the three videos we took outside…let’s just say at least one of them ended with eating rocks instead of blowing kisses. We came close once we got inside – if you pretend that she is showing affection for her grandmothers and not Moses the cat.

Right before naptime we decided to try one last time. She was blowing kisses to Daddy so he grabbed the camera to try to catch her in the act. Instead she decided to show off one of her other newly-discovered skills.

We’re so proud…can’t you tell?

So, to Grandma Laura, Great-Grandma Betty, and Nana -

Happy Mother’s Day!
We love you!

Well Watered

IMG_3786

The Irishman decided to rig it so that the hose would keep spraying a fine mist. He thought it would be easier for her to water the plants that way.

IMG_3787

The only thing that was well-watered was Caitlin!

IMG_3788

(Have I mentioned before how much I love her little curls?)

IMG_3796

While it wasn’t quite what we’d had in mind, Caitlin had a blast!

IMG_3792

Now she wants to play in the water every time we are outside!

Today is spirit day at school and all the third graders are wearing orange shirts. I outgrew a pair of maternity pants this week at just over 26 weeks pregnant...my options are limited. The only orange shirt I've found in my closet that will fit me is this one. You know...why not?

Chores

Sunday we decided we would stay home after Mass and get some chores done around the house. One of Caitlin’s favorite chores is working on the patio. As soon as we started she asked for help putting on the garden gloves.

IMG_3782

Note to self: Pick up a pair of kid-sized garden gloves!

IMG_3783

(Please ignore the floating floral fabric…we had a few pillowcases on the clothesline!)

IMG_3773

We’ve had poinsettias in the garden boxes on the balcony since December. The Irishman finally replaced them and took down the Christmas lights. (Yes, you read that correctly. Yes, it is May. Don’t judge!) Some of the poinsettias had some new growth so he has replanted them elsewhere and is currently giving some TLC in hopes that they will make it until December.

IMG_3774

Caitlin thought they all deserved a chance to be replanted…

IMG_3776

Her favorite part of working in the garden is watering the plants.

IMG_3780

She begged and begged for Daddy to turn on the hose until he gave in,

IMG_3778

and that’s when the real fun started!

My Kind of Cupcake

Saturday I talked the Irishman into heading to the beach after Caitlin woke up from her nap. We had to stop for cat food on the way there, and this was the sight I saw when I looked back. Pretty typical, but it still made me chuckle!

IMG_3749

We bought the shoes from a local discount store for $3 only to discover when we got home that they light up. She was lighting up the boardwalk on her way to the beach!

IMG_3751

Caitlin will stand with her daddy for a few minutes…

IMG_3754

before the "run and catch me" game begins.

IMG_3756

Her favorite part of the beach is still the sand. This time she decided to play at the water’s edge.

IMG_3766

It was a little too windy for the hat, but it is my favorite part of the new swimsuit!

Caitlin’s Furry Friends

Okay, so maybe I have one last Easter post…but other than the Easter bonnet Caitlin is wearing it isn’t really related to the holiday. I mentioned that we saw the World’s Largest Easter Bunny, but I neglected to mention Caitlin’s furry friends that were also at the Easter carnival…

After trying many times, she finally met the man in red. (I am sure that the Irishman would argue that there is only one man in red and he does not live on Sesame Street, but Caitlin might not see it that way yet!) This particular red furry friend does birthday parties so he was trying REALLY hard to make a good impression.

IMG_3450

He held Caitlin,

IMG_3452

talked to her,

IMG_3453

danced with her,

IMG_3455

tickled her,

IMG_3460

posed for photos with her,

IMG_3462

even wore her hat at one point.

IMG_3464

In the end though it was another kind of furry friend that won her heart!

IMG_3474

Not even two yet,

IMG_3477

and she is already begging to bring home baby chicks and bunnies!

Outfits #2 and #3

I was up way too late watching the news last night and as I feared it led to busy dreams. It is hard to wake up rested when you spent the night dreaming that your school was on lock down with an active shooter!

I’d planned to finish my Easter posts over the weekend, but that didn’t happen. We had a lovely lazy weekend. I managed to finally get my hair cut and had a chance to do some shopping on the way home. I was in a dollar store looking for Elmo Bath Books when a random older woman stopped me to tell me that I was "carrying very well." It made me laugh!

For my Mommy friends…I found that Tuesday Morning has iPlay swimsuits and swim diapers for really good prices. (I’m talking $25 suits for $6.99) These are my favorites so I actually stopped at two stores on my way home and bought four suits for each of our kids…and little man isn’t even here yet!

Speaking of swimsuits, this first photo is Caitlin’s Easter outfit #2. I foolishly forgot to bring a change of clothes to the beach for Sunrise Mass. After her little swim in her Easter clothes we put her in the only other outfit we had with us…her swimsuit! We stopped for breakfast on the way home. That kid LOVES croissants!

IMG_3622

After a quick bath at home to get the sand out of her ears, we put on the dress Nana sent her (Outfit #3 if you are counting) and headed to our local parish for an Easter Egg hunt. Caitlin was the youngest one there, but she held her own! The Knights of Columbus organizing the event were concerned she wouldn’t get any eggs so they watched out for her as well. Those men are fantastic! They always come around to say hi to Caitlin at Mass each week!

IMG_3629

About half-way through Caitlin decided to start taking the eggs out of her bag...oh well!

IMG_3635

IMG_3637

Caitlin tried the Tootsie Rolls from her one of her eggs, but she really doesn’t care much for chocolate. (Though she LOVES white chocolate!)

IMG_3640

When we got home I had to swap out the contents of the eggs for Goldfish and Honey Bunnies. Of course that left more chocolate for Daddy!

We've been opening Easter Eggs for her ever since!
