In My Shoes

Last week we got the house pressure washed and painted. It was a bit of an ordeal, but it is done now and hopefully the HOA will soon stop harassing us about it. Regardless of the reasons we had it done, it looks great!

The Irishman decided to treat recently cleaned fence to a coat of sealant. Caitlin saw her daddy outside and decided she wanted to play with chalk. She’s getting quite the independent streak!

Parade and a Break

I scheduled posts for the rest of the week last night and I’d planned on posting for today about the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Instead I ended up at our 7th and 8th doctors appointments in the last 7 days. My eye is healing but still needs drops. Sean now has an ear infection.

I’m tired. This week has taken a lot out of me. We went to the parade on Saturday and had a great time, but it was too much for our sick kiddos. They were both asleep by the time we got to the car.

I have posts scheduled for the rest of the week, but I am giving myself a break today. Usually I’d go back in and adjust the dates to make tomorrow the parade picture day, but right now that is too much work. I’ll get around to posting the rest of the parade pictures eventually. = )

For now we will all focus on getting healthy!

Happy Birthday Daddy

Last week was the Irishman’s birthday. Caitlin and I made a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing, per his request. It wasn’t anything fancy, but I love a chance to bake with my little girl.

She LOVES to “cook, cook, cook.” As soon as she hears you are making something in the kitchen she pulls up a chair to help. In the two days I was home with her last week we made waffles (twice), a birthday cake, and banana bread. She loves to “stir, stir, stir” after I add the eggs. Pouring milk should always come next in her book. We take turns stirring, but it is always, “Caitlin first!”

For the cake I started to let her decorate the cake, but the icing was harder to manage than I’d expected. After the first green puddle I decided to go with a shamrock theme.

Caitlin had a 102 fever at this point and I’m pretty sure Sean was holding a grudge because he was the only one who didn’t get any cake!

In typical fashion we re-lit the candles multiple times so that we could blow them out again.

Hope you had a happy birthday, sweetie!

Same Song, Second Verse

What started as a small cough and turned into the all-out crud. I was back in school today and the Irishman took Caitlin to the doctor. She has an ear infection and “gunk” in her chest. The doctor didn’t make a big deal of it and seemed to think that she could go back to school right away.

I’m having flashbacks to that week in December. She woke up from her nap at dinner time with a 101.9 fever. She took a little of the antibiotic and promptly puked all over herself…and me. She hadn’t eaten much as it is. The kid is a mess. She whined about her boo boos all through dinner and bath time. Tylenol brought down the fever again, but it looks like another trip to the doctor tomorrow. Sigh.

Sean has been off form all day. When I dropped him off at school this morning he cried. He never does that. I was running late and didn’t have time to stay. I cried my way into school. When I picked him up today they said he had been fussy and had a 99 degree fever. I’m really hoping it is just his teeth!

The picture is old, but it shows Caitlin and her “hat.” She puts the old cloth diapers on her head after her bath. She gets very upset if she can’t find her “hats.”

Side note: The Irishman was superman today. He took Caitlin to the doctor by himself and then had to bring me my eye drops at school. I'm as bad as the kids! Thank you sweetie!
