Meeting the Mouse…Err…Mice

I *think* these might be the last of the Disney pictures. There are just a few pictures with Cinderella’s Castle and then our pictures meeting Mickey and Minnie.

Tip for anyone going to Disney: Get the photo pass that they offer even if you have no intention of buying photos. Then if you line up to get your picture taken with your photo pass ask the photographer to take one with your photo as well. We’ve gotten some of our best photos that way. It is much better than our usual stop a stranger who you think you would out run if they decided to do a runner with the camera. ; )

Right by the entrance there is a spot where you can line up to take pictures with Mickey and Minnie. They had the princesses as well, but their line was much longer. I didn’t realize until it was too late that they had a FastPass available for that. Now we know for next time!

Sean was most interest in Minnie’s nose.

This was the last thing we did in the Magic Kingdom and it was a wonderful way to end the day!

I’m pretty sure both Caitlin and Grammy are already trying to figure out a way to get back there!

Magical “First” Haircut

A friend of mine told us about getting her daughter’s first haircut at the Magic Kingdom. I had looked into it and decided that a haircut there was about the same price as our local kid’s salon so we would give it a try.

This is the “before” picture.

IMG_8513

We had to wait a little while in line. When we went by earlier in the trip there was no line, but Caitlin was napping in the stroller. It turns out the characters walk right past there, so it wasn’t a bad place to hang out.

IMG_8511

They started with more stickers than Caitlin knew what to do with. She sat down and was immediately covered. It worked.

Even though it wasn’t quite her first haircut, Grammy bought her the first haircut package – complete with the ears

and the fairy “dust” glitter stuff.

Sean didn’t get a haircut, but he loved his sister’s hat.

We were happy with the finished product.

Caitlin has been talking about haircuts ever since! Let’s just hope she doesn’t expect a Mickey Mouse haircut next time!

Epcot Character Spot

One of the main reasons for going to Epcot was the Character Spot. After seeing Daisy at Magic Kingdom, we knew that would be what Caitlin wanted to do most. We waited in line for a while before she saw what we were actually waiting in line for – you should have seen her face when she did! We had to hold her back to keep her from running into someone else’s picture.

Sean fell asleep. He was happy and content in the baby carrier, though it doesn’t look the most comfortable!

This was pre-haircut, but I told Caitlin that Mickey wanted her to put the flower clip in her hair. It worked. She kept it in the whole time!

Caitlin LOVED the fact that the characters were all in one place. By the time we got to the family picture she was already looking away to see who she got to meet next.

After Pluto she actually said, “Next!”

She got her “big hug” from each of them.

The Irishman took video of Caitlin walking up to each of the characters. He is working on putting it all together with pictures for Caitlin. I’m sure she’ll love it! The characters were by far her favorite part of the trip!

All-Star Swim

I posted yesterday about the hotel, so today I’ll add the pool. I’d tried to schedule posts this weekend, but Caitlin caught me going through the photos and insisted on sitting on my lap watching the video clips. All was going well until she hopped down and ran to the door. “Come on, Mommy. Get in the car. See Mickey.” She was completely serious. We did it once, why not now?

I can’t wait for her photo book to get here. I just hope that doesn’t lead to any more “See Mickey” moments!

The big pool’s center feature was under construction. The baby pool was nicer than the pool at the Music resort. Our local pool doesn’t have a baby pool so this is a novelty for us. Caitlin started out playing away but then decided she needed her puddle jumpers.

IMG_8652

Sean loves to splash. Even more than that he loves to splash his sister. He is getting this little brother thing down to an art!

We only had time for one swim on this trip before heading back home. A good time was had by all though!

All-Star Movies

Last year we stayed in the All-Star Music Resort. A value resort was our only option this trip for staying on property, so we opted to mix it up a little and stay in the All-Star Movies instead.

mviehtl

Truthfully it wouldn’t have mattered much where we were staying. The kids were thrilled to have Grammy there! She arrived before we did, so it was a welcome surprise to Caitlin when we walked in the door!

IMG_8274

Isn’t this how you get ready in the morning?

IMG_8275

We took the buses to the park. I wish they had covered wait areas for the buses. We said the same last year. Caitlin loved the buses. She is still talking about them!

IMG_8277

Sean had a Pack-n-Play to sleep in, but on more than one occasion he napped (supervised of course!) on the bed.

IMG_8344

Bath time was a little trickier. Caitlin was fine in the tub, but Sean is still not quite sturdy enough for that. We call this the Disney Jacuzzi.

IMG_8346

“What are you doing to me?”

IMG_8347

The best part of the Disney resorts is the decorations. We were in the Herbie section.

Though we stopped to see Donald and Daisy in Fantasia.

All in all it was a great place to play…

and to sleep!
