Mommy & Me Monday: We've Got the Spirit

Yesterday was Pentecost Sunday, so we all wore red to Mass. The recently retired Monsignor who performed our wedding always reminded everyone to wear red for the Holy Spirit and it is something little we try to do each year.

Of course these days I can't let an opportunity like that go by without pictures...

Caitlin didn't want to look at the camera...

She was more interested in the leaves and planning how to get them in her hands!



I know she loves her mommy, but
Daddy is the most fun!

On the Bright Side

Even though:
The cold bug has hit our house...and Caitlin has kindly shared her germs with us. (I thought foolishly that I has escaped, but I can feel it coming on now.) I only have 13 days of school left...but I have lost ALL motivation. In my trunk I have a box of poetry notebooks to grade that must finally be dealt with this weekend. My lesson plans are due on Monday. I have to meet with the principal on Monday to do my evaluation on Monday and haven't even started getting my paperwork together. (Or figuring out how to show I met my goals from last year when I took off three months to have a baby instead.) I have the ever dreaded morning duty next week...which means an extra stress each morning as I am running late. The sheets need changing, the floors...yuck! Our floors are bad. The neighbor's cat may get eaten buy the weeds in our patio...although that cat keeps harassing ours through the window so that might not be a bad thing.  Speaking of cats...the litter box needs to be cleaned. I need to make a vet appointment for Rafa. Speaking of appointments, the Irishman and I both need to go to the dentist. We also to find a new doctor who has not switched to geriatrics. I desperately need a haircut and my eyebrows...ick. There is still a pile of thank you cards to write...and a pile that just need to make it to the mailbox. Speaking of piles, I may not have to make an appointment for Rafa if he gets eaten by the pile of clean laundry in our bedroom that needs to be put away. I am SO ready for the summer...but we have to figure out vacation plans for the much longed for summer. Then there are car seats and baby gates to research and purchase.  Did I mention a sick baby and husband?

 If you are still reading this I am truly sorry.



Even with all of that swirling in my head,
 I am going to look on the bright side.

PSF: Sprig

Across the pond is an Irish dog named Sprig.

The Irishman and Sprig have a special bond.

Several years ago, his siter June found a "Sprig" plush toy at Tesco in England.

We decided if Caitlin can't meet the real Sprig yet,

 it was time to introduce her to his fluffy fake counterpart.

Grab the Camera

The other day the Irishman was playing with Caitlin when she spit up all over him.

It wasn't much, but it was WHERE....

his forehead,

his new shirt,

his ear.

As the one NOT covered in spit up I found this amusing.

My first thought was to document the occasion, but I thought for sure the one covered in spit up would disagree. I went to grab a burp cloth to help clean up.

Then he laughed and said, "Get the camera..."



"...this would be great on your blog."

WW: Tutu Cute!

A few weeks ago I won a giveaway at McMommy and Me. Included in the prize was a tutu from My 'Lil Monkey. I was so excited about the tutu...I have tutu and monogrammed taste without a tutu and monogram budget.

Sunday I put the tutu on Caitlin


...and she spit up on it.

Talk about disappointment. SO... these are the surviving tutu pictures. I'm happy to report that the tutu survived the wash. We'll try again soon!

Caitlin is still congested and making these lovely scrunched faces. It is usually accompanied by a certain noisy breathing that makes her look and sound like she needs anger management classes.

She is still tutu cute!

Sitting Pretty

Caitlin is now sitting up by herself



...for about 10 seconds or so.

It's a good thing I am quick with the camera!

She gets a little stronger each day.

Sunday she actually used the living room furniture to push herself onto her knees in a crawling position. She wasn't sure what to do once she got there, but the Irishman and I watched in awe as she got that far.

This has been declared the "best picture ever" by my husband. Although I might argue that "best picture ever" changes weekly...

A Hippo, A Blanket, Mommy, and Me!

This weekend a package came for Caitlin. It was from family friends in Houston. (I used to babysit for the family...and now the girls are having babies of their own. Makes you feel old...)

Anyway, they sent Caitlin a BEAUTIFUL smocked dress with clovers and ladybugs....it should be PERFECT for next St. Patrick's Day. They also sent this blanket and hippo....



How much do I LOVE this blanket and the hippo?



Caitlin was congested and snotty all weekend. (I was calling her Snuffleupagus...you could hear the poor thing breathing from across the room.) We decided the pool was probably not the best idea for the sniffling one, so we stuck around the house with our new blanket and hippo.

I've saved the very best pictures for later in the week. There are a lot of out takes...funny faces...a LOT of hair pulling... hand eating (much cuter when it is her OWN hand and not mine!)...a few where she scooted out of the shot and we were left with a photo of a blanket and an abandoned hippo...you get the idea! The Irishman took some nice Mommy and Me pictures though that I had to share today.

Most of all we had fun...
and that is what it is all about!
