(Sean was sick on Friday so he stayed home with me. We ran errands all morning, including a cash transaction in the back of a silver mini van at at gas station 45 minutes away from home to buy the Irishman's Father's Day present.  Sean and I got home just in time for a thunderstorm so we had time to hang out and play! Little man is pulling up on EVERYTHING and has figured out how to climb onto Cailtin's bed. I didn't have the camera ready so it is just a few phone photos.)

What’s Cookin’?

I think I’ve mentioned it before, but Caitlin loves to cook. Right now she is mixing up a birthday cake in her pretend kitchen. “Daddy! You can’t eat it yet! It has to cook!” Then she giggles like that is the funniest thing she has ever heard. I am loving the fact that she will finally entertain herself.

While pretend cooking is good, real cooking is better. She made Daddy’s day when she threw on this hat before making waffles last weekend.

Ireland, Ireland, Ireland!

Sunday we all dressed in green for the Ireland match. I joke on Facebook that we looked more like we were going to a St. Patrick’s parade than Mass. A random stranger stopped us to ask if we’d just been to Ireland.

After lunch the Irishman headed out to meet some friends for the game and I followed behind about 30 minutes later so we could meet them there. Caitlin was SO excited! As we walked out the door she started chanting and cheering. I was hoping she would take a nap. I was wrong.

Sean did sleep though so once we got to the establishment where we were watching the game I took this video and sent a text to the Irishman updating him on the status…Sean asleep, Caitlin cheering. Somehow in the three minutes it took him to get out to us in the parking lot, Caitlin crashed. She was sound asleep for the whole first half!

We made it inside for the last 15 minutes or so. The outcome wasn’t quite what we hoped for, but that didn’t stop the cheering!

The boys in green take on Spain today and the kids are heading off to school in their Irish green shirts.

Ireland, Ireland, Ireland!

*To those across the pond: Yes, I know she says “eye-er-land” like a Yank but when she says it the other way it somehow sounds more like Ole. I tried. Trust me, it was the better option!

*To those on this side of the pond: When the Irish say it it sounds more like “arrr-land” –the first sound is a bit like the sound a pirate makes. And to them we are all Yanks…as in Yankees. Even southerners. Don't take it personally.

Odds and Ends

I had an assortment of photos from our phones saved on the computer that really didn’t fit any other post so I am linking up with Tabitha’s Hump Day Dump.

Hats at Hand…in June?

When I cleaned out the kids’ closet a couple of weeks ago a hat failed to make it back into the box, I put the hat on Sean and made the Irishman’s day.

IMG_9636

Funny enough the Irishman had NO problem locating a Santa hat to match. No comment on the fact that he can’t find Sean’s socks but knows exactly where the furry red hats are kept. ; )

IMG_9659

Of course this led to discussion about our Christmas card. I said we had to get to the half way to Christmas point, but of course he had a counter argument in place. We TAKE the picture around Thanksgiving so we are half way there.

IMG_9653

So it begins.

IMG_9632

We took pictures with Santa and elf hats.

10 Months

It does not seem possible that Sean is already 10 months. I am in denial.

IMG_9698

He has suddenly found his feet. He is not standing on his own yet, but he is holding onto anything he can and thinking about letting go.

IMG_9703

Sean loves table food and is only tolerating baby food. Meatballs are a personal favorite!

IMG_9699

Here is the comparison shot. Caitlin just woke up and is “helping” me send this “e-mail.” She doesn’t believe that it is her…though I think that is related to the fact that she would rather watch Mickey Mouse.

Sean is such a blessing. He has a lovely personality and is growing into sweet little guy!

And because Caitlin is in my lap begging to type an e-mail to Nana, Granda, and Grammy here goes:
