Build-a-Bear, 2nd Attempt

During our trip to the outlet mall last week my mom decided that she wanted to Build-a-Bear with Caitlin. Our last trip didn’t go so well, but we decided to give it another chance.

Again the panda was a problem.

IMG_0507

We let her hold the finished panda and talked her into making a gray cat. Here she is getting the sound box. “Meow!”

IMG_0509

She started to help with the stuffing, but it sounded too much like the vacuum.

IMG_0512

Grammy’s arms are much safer! (This would be when I snuck the panda back on the shelf…)

IMG_0513

She picked out the heart,

and added it to the kitty.

We named the kitty, “Meow” mostly because Caitlin can say that.

He has become a popular member of our household.

Even Sean approves!

Mall Madness

Last week we took a trip down to the big outlet mall. We brought the double stroller, but after a while Caitlin decided she’d had enough of that and she walked next to the stroller. As we came up to a crowded section of the mall Caitlin was curious.

It didn’t take her long to figure out that the floor was interactive, and the design changed every minute or so.

See the little boy in the background of the picture (above)? Caitlin was spinning around and lightly bumped into him causing him to fall down. I asked Caitlin to say, “Sorry” and I told her to be gentle. The next thing I know she walked up to the boy and started petting his head. Oops. I guess I should watch my word choice. Try explaining to another mom why your daughter is petting her son on the head like a cat.

Feel like a swim?

IMG_0505

Don’t mind if I do!

IMG_0503

Where did the water go?

IMG_0506

She didn’t want to leave!

Mommy and Grammy and Me

Over the summer I bought a Groupon for a local children’s museum that we’ve been to before. Friday we decided to head back and show Grammy the fun. Thankfully the Jim Henson Exhibit was still there.

IMG_5164

This time Caitlin decided to try her hand at puppet making. Little Miss Bossy also decided that Grammy should help.

IMG_5171

Sean wore his Elmo onesie in honor of the occasion.

IMG_5176

Caitlin was all smiles running around the place!

IMG_5179

I’ve been wearing Sean in the wrap carrier quite a bit lately. Without a single stroller with a car seat adaptor it has been the easiest way to take him along with me. Thankfully he doesn’t seem to mind! I’m looking into other baby carriers that do not require quite so much to put on…

We had a blast with this little monster…

and his performing big sister!

My mom headed back to Texas this weekend. We really enjoyed her visit. Caitlin is getting old enough now to remember people and to say their names. (She decided that Grandma needed to become Grammy….and ‘Grammy’ didn’t mind!) It is so much fun to see our little girl get to know our far away families. Mom was a wonderful help and spoiled her grandkids (and their parents!) for a whole two weeks. I just wish we all lived closer together!

Brother, Sister, and Elmo

Monday was Caitlin’s first day in her new classroom at school. I wanted it to be a good day, so I made sure to dress her in her Elmo shirt.

IMG_5156

I also dressed Sean in his finest Elmo wear. Caitlin was thrilled to see her brother wearing “Em-Mo!” I tried to get a picture of the two of them together.

IMG_5158

Here she is “being nice.”

She had a great day with her new teachers. Even better yet, she asked about Sean as soon as I picked her up. She was happy to see him waiting in the car with Grandma. I think she’s decided he is worth keeping around!

Superman’s First Bottle

The Irishman watched both kids for the afternoon on Sunday so that my mom and I could head out for lunch. (Talk about Superman!) That meant that Sean got to try his first bottle of expressed Mommy milk.

Super Sean’s first bottle was a success!

E-I-E-I-O

Last weekend we took a trip to a local farm. The tour was a bit later than we expected, so Caitlin spent some time on the playground. That girl loves to slide!

She missed a nap so she was a bit cranky, but she loved meeting the animals. She is really good at making the animal sounds so it was great for her to get to meet them in person!

Sean enjoyed the farm the usual way…with a nap!

We’ll head back again when it isn’t so hot outside!

Burger Babe

Any good cook starts by washing their hands…and face!

IMG_5147

Would you like a cup of tea?

IMG_5150

One of Grandma Laura’s friends sent Caitlin this burger set to add to her kitchen.

IMG_5151

It’s a big hit!

IMG_5152

Burgers for breakfast anyone?
